Surface mount technology (SMT)

Due to the need for miniaturization, many PCB contractors now utilise surface mount technology. At Clarydon we have invested in PCB assembly equipment to allow us to place the most up to date components ranging from 0201 to 50mm QFPs and BGAs. Odd form components can also be assembled using laser guided placement.

Conventional component assembly

Due to component availability some PCBs cannot use SMT. PCB contractors like Clarydon have the capability to assemble through hole PCBs using a variety of methods to ensure quality and repeatability.

These are the services we have available:

  • Automatic component insertion of axial components for high volume.
  • Hand inserted components for low/medium volumes or radial/non standard parts.
  • Trimming of component leads prior to soldering using cropmatic for medium size batches.
  • Automatic dual wave soldering using no clean flux or VOC free.
  • Dual wave capability for mixed technology/double sided boards.
  • Full functional test or 100% visual inspection.
  • Build from free issue materials or competitively purchased components.
